I am a Digital Learning Designer at the University of Plymouth, where I have been in my current role since May 2023. My professional journey in Learning Technology has evolved through various roles, each building on my passion for enhancing the educational experience through the strategic use of digital tools. I have a strong background in supporting staff development and promoting innovation in teaching, primarily through the use of platforms like Moodle, PebblePad, Panopto, and immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented realities.
Before moving into digital learning design, I worked in Further Education as a Sports Tutor and Lecturer of Sport at City College Plymouth and The Cornwall College Group, completing my PGCE in 2018. In these roles, I was responsible for designing and delivering curriculum that combined theoretical knowledge with practical application. I developed engaging learning experiences that prioritised high-quality teaching, robust assessment practices, and learner-centred pedagogy. This work deepened my understanding of curriculum design and helped shape my interest in using innovative methods, both physical and digital, to enhance student engagement.
Alongside my teaching experience, I also held a strategic leadership role in sport and physical activity development. This involved delivering county-wide initiatives, managing events, and aligning projects with national priorities from organisations such as Sport England and Public Health Cornwall. These experiences helped me develop a strong foundation in project management, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative working, all of which continue to influence my approach to supporting educational innovation today.
As I pursue my CMALT accreditation, I am reflecting on how my experiences and expertise can contribute to the future of digital education. I am committed to continuous professional development and aspire to further refine my practice to provide effective, evidence-based support to educators in higher education. This portfolio represents a reflection on my journey to date and my ongoing commitment to enhancing teaching and learning through digital technology.
